The Economic and Tax Studies Office of the Agency's Central Anti-Fraud Office carries out economic-tax analyzes and studies in order to provide, also through comparisons with the experiences of other tax administrations, useful elements for defining the programs of the Agency.

It also takes care of the planning of economic-fiscal statistical reports, also maintaining relations with the sector bodies and coordinates the statistical function as the reference of the Statistic Office of the Supervisory Ministry.

In this area, are published documents deemed useful for anyone, operators or scholars, who are interested in customs activities, their main components: trade flows, combating tax and extra-tax evasions, and so on.

Along with the works carried out directly by the Research Department, are also made available documents produced by other offices of the Agency or by national and international administrations and organizations, possibly translated into Italian, considered particularly significant.
