Historical profiles
From a historical perspective, the Customs and Monopolies Agency, finds its roots in the Royal Decree 1611, published on the 23rd of October 1853 by the Kingdom of Sardinia in a pre-unification context. Subsequently, to provide juridical and institutional continuity, with the competences eventually devolved to the newly formed Italian tax administration, which saw light on the 17th of March 1861, the day of the Proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy.
